Miles of off road coastal tracks and a birdspotters paradise
Can be done in half a day with time for a browse | 13 miles
A glorious off-road circular coastal route along the 7km Solent Way coastal trail with breathtaking views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight and its famous Needles. Park up on the cobbled quay of the lovely coastal Georgian town of Lymington and explore the marina and quay with its myriad independent shops and restaurants, boat tours and museums. Wend your way back through the SSSI protected Keyhaven Nature Reserve and salt marshes - bring your binoculars as the bird and wildlife here is spectacular. This road route curves round Hurst Spit and there's an opportunity hop off into a secret Bird Hide next door to the excellent Lighthouse seaside bar and restaurant. Time for an ice cream sitting on the beach? We think so! Hop back on board and continue your adventure meandering along the seafront before heading into Milford on Sea to park upon and explore this lovely little coastal village green. This lively little hub of village life hosts a hive of independent interiors and clothes stores, eateries, pubs and cafes as well as a Normal Church. A lovely sojourn before winding you way along the lanes back to Keyhaven for a well earned drink in the garden of the renowned local pub, the Gun Inn, which has been an 'ale house' since the 1700's!
